Hi, I am in the process of purchasing an 80W 24 x 16 Inches CO2 Laser Engraver w/ Electric Lifting Platform that runs on a M2 controller. Will I be able to upgrade to the Cohesion 3D board? Also, will the rotary engraver that you sell work with the Cohesion 3D board without anything further to install? If I need other items to run the rotary tool with the Cohesion 3D board, please let me know what else I would need to purchase. Thank you!
Welcome to the forum and thank you for your interest in Cohesion3D!
The LaserBoard is a drop in upgrade for the M2Nano Board that is most popular in the low cost K40 laser cutter, but it is compatible with a variety of other lasers on the market.
Please review the Compatibility tab on the LaserBoard product page to see if your controller matches: https://cohesion3d.com/shop/controllers/cohesion3d-laserboard/
We recommend reading our Buyer’s Guide to understand what you will need: https://cohesion3d.com/cohesion3d-laserboard-buyers-guide/
We also recommend viewing the Rotary Setup Guide: https://cohesion3d.com/knowledgebase/rotary-setup-on-laserboard/
If you need assistance during the installation process, we ask that you post to the forum, provide clear photos of the controller, wiring, and electronics for review.
Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will be happy to assist.
Richard, there is one other consideration with the electrical lifting platform… the M2Nano only controls the X/Y axes. If the machine has physical buttons to control an AC motor for the Z table that came in it, you would continue to use those.
However, if you’re feeling really adventurous, you can swap in a large stepper motor with external driver and limit switches to run it from the C3D board.
