Multiple config/setup issues on 600x900 rear right homing laser

Machine: Chinese 600x900 80w with m2 nano

Board: Cohesion3d laserboard v1.0

Firmware: _Smoothie

Problem/ Question: Hi everyone. Really hope someone can help me. I have a large 6090 chinese laser that homes to the rear right of the machine. I have set up the board to the dimensions in the lightburn software and also in the config file. The problems being encountered are as follows

End stop switches:
Both x and y are physical. I have tested these under the attached config file parameters using the M119 command in the console. when actuated they both show the value “1” however when the head goes crazy it still rattles away and bumps off the stop switches and does not stop the head moving, similarly, i held the switches in and actuated them while jogging the head in lightburn and it still moved. I would have thought you would not be able to move the head with the switches actuated.

Home position: tried everything to get it to start at the rear right, as it did with the M2 board that pre existed but it doesnt matter what I set it to, the head moves away from the direction I lease expect it. I have watched the video on the usual confusion with homing and origin but I am still none the wiser.

Inverted image: I started a job from current position, lovely quality but the picture came out the opposite way around from what was displayed on the screen.

My config file is pasted below:

Any help greatly appreciated.

Problem/ Question: my limit switches are in the rear right of the machine. I am having a nightmare setting it up. I have done the tests to check for correct operation when switches are triggered. Even showing triggered value you can still move the head. When you press home the head crashew into the gantry even when switches are triggered.

Really need help… Would be greatly appreciated.

Let’s start with this:

alpha_homing_direction home_to_min

change this to be home_to_max

See if that helps.

If you still have issues, you can disable homing on startup in the LightBurn device configuration. Then the head should not try to home when you connect in LightBurn and you can try jogging around and seeing if the head actually moves the correct way (left/ right, and forward/ back) as the jog buttons you are pressing in LightBurn.

Thanks. I will give that a go today. Should the origin still be set to front left in the setup?

Yes, we are teaching the laser where to home and how large the bed is so that it will offset by those amounts, keeping the origin in the front left.

Thanks for the earlier post. I have had a play about with the config as suggested. The x axis now homes perfectly to the top right of the machine and stops when hitting the limit. Jogging the controls works perfectly on the x axis but y is back to front when jogging.

Going through the list, tell me if I have something incorrect:

You have the Y homing switch in the rear of the machine.
Homing moves the head to the rear.
Jogging in LightBurn: down should bring the head forward to you and up should move it to the back of the machine.
Are you sure you have set the device origin in LightBurn as the front left?

Hi.

That is correct both switches x and y are at the rear right of the machine.

Origin is at front left

When jogging left arrow, the head moves to the left (away from its home Position) and as per the direction of the arrow.

When Jogging the down arrow the gantry wants to move away from me (the opposite direction from the arrow)

And this is still set as such?

Beta still seems be home to max. It just runs to the bottom of the bed (closest to me) when pressing home

This is a direct contradiction of what we spoke about above. The home button should move the head to the rear right, touch the switches, slower a 2nd time, and stop, all relatively calmly.

So which thing is it?

Sorry… My mistake. When pressing the down arrow it moves towards the back of the machine (away from me)

I removed the exclamation mark at the beta dir pin and it now seems to go the correct way when jogging.

I will run a couple of jobs and get back with how it goes.

Looks good with the exception of the skipping… Not sure what is going on here but looks to have jumped for some reason
