Couple of Lines Missing

Machine: K40
Board: Cohesion3d
Firmware: _Smoothie
Speed 100mm sec
Power 80%
Lines Per inch 254
Line interval: 0.1

Seems to have missed a couple of lines, any ideas please
Thank you

It appears the job completed properly but there’s a section where the laser was not firing. This could be a number of things. Since the job finished we can guess that the LaserBoard ran fine, but the laser itself failed to fire for part of the job.

Have you only run this job once or tried multiple times? (If multiple, does it do the same thing every time?)

Does your machine have any safety interlocks on the lid? Most K40 machines don’t, but for those that do the laser will not fire if you lift the lid even though the head will keep moving.

Does your machine have a water cooling pump? Is that functioning properly?

Does your machine have a laser “on” switch on the control panel? If it does, perhaps that switch is malfunctioning. Can you post a pic of your machine’s control panel?

Can you also provide some pics of the LaserBoard and the wiring going to the laser power supply? While you are getting the pics, check that all the wires are secure. Give them each a light tug to make sure they can’t just pull out.

Check over the machine and post some pics so we can try to determine what’s happening.

Thank you for your reply
I have just turned it over and engraved the back, looks like it missed 1 line a little further down
So not in the same position as yesterday

The results of your second attempt would suggest the issue is not caused by that specific file.

Are you able to answer all the questions in the previous post so we can attempt to troubleshoot further?

A: Just the front (initial problem) and then the back

Does your machine have any safety interlocks on the lid? Most K40 machines don’t, but for those that do the laser will not fire if you lift the lid even though the head will keep moving.

A: No safety interlocks

Does your machine have a water cooling pump? Is that functioning properly?

A: It has and its seems to be functioning correctly with an average temp of around 15.5

Does your machine have a laser “on” switch on the control panel? If it does, perhaps that switch is malfunctioning. Can you post a pic of your machine’s control panel?
A: See attached

Can you also provide some pics of the LaserBoard and the wiring going to the laser power supply? While you are getting the pics, check that all the wires are secure. Give them each a light tug to make sure they can’t just pull out.

A: Pictures attached and wires secure

Check over the machine and post some pics so we can try to determine what’s happening.

A: Pictures attached

Kind regards
Kim

Right. This is not a failure mode I am familiar with of the LaserBoard and not something I have seen before. If the job was completely cutting out and stopped moving, we would be having a very different conversation. But it does not

I would recommend having a close look at the connections at the large power plug and the other end of this:

to make sure that everything is making contact. This is is what controls the laser fire signal.
